When in Rome

The film begins with Beth Harper (played by Kristen Bell), a successful curator at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, attending her sister’s wedding in Rome. Feeling disheartened by her own lack of romantic prospects, Beth impulsively takes coins from the “Fontana d’Amore” (Fountain of Love) at the wedding reception, believing them to be insignificant.

Unbeknownst to Beth, the coins she took were thrown into the fountain by various people who made wishes for love. As a result, she becomes the object of affection for a group of men who were affected by the magical spell of the fountain.

Back in New York City, Beth is pursued by the suitors who are now deeply infatuated with her, including a street magician named Lance (played by Jon Heder), a painter named Antonio (played by Will Arnett), a model named Gale (played by Dax Shepard), and a sausage king named Al (played by Danny DeVito).

Feeling overwhelmed by the attention and unable to explain the strange phenomenon, Beth seeks the help of her friend Joan (played by Anjelica Huston), who works at the Guggenheim. Together, they try to unravel the mystery behind the enchanted coins and find a way to break the spell.

In the midst of the chaos, Beth also reconnects with Nick Beamon (played by Josh Duhamel), a charming sports journalist who had previously interviewed her for a magazine article. Despite initially being skeptical of his intentions, Beth finds herself drawn to Nick’s sincerity and warmth.

As Beth and Nick spend more time together, they develop genuine feelings for each other. However, their budding romance is complicated by the interference of the enchanted suitors and Beth’s reluctance to believe in true love.

In the end, Beth realizes that her feelings for Nick are genuine and decides to take a leap of faith by returning the stolen coins to the Fountain of Love in Rome. As she does so, the spell is broken, and the suitors are released from their enchantment.

Beth and Nick share a romantic moment at the fountain, affirming their love for each other. The film concludes with Beth and Nick returning to New York City together, ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives as a couple.

“When in Rome” is a charming and lighthearted romantic comedy that explores the power of love and the importance of taking chances. With its whimsical premise, endearing characters, and heartfelt moments, it offers audiences a delightful journey into the realm of romance and enchantment.
