The film kicks off in the backyard of a nightclub where two DEA agents are covertly delivering drugs. Their operation is abruptly disrupted by a violent attack, leaving everyone dead except for two girls who manage to evade capture. Days later, the girls are apprehended in Mexico and placed under police protection as key witnesses to the DEA agents’ murders.
In the U.S., Travis Johansen, a seasoned police officer embroiled in a scandal over racist remarks, is offered a job in Mexico as a chance for redemption. His task: rescue the girls and escort them safely back to the States, showcasing his commitment to duty and mending relations after his previous indiscretions. Despite initial reluctance and warnings from friends, Johansen accepts the assignment and retrieves the girls, initiating their journey towards the border.
However, their journey takes a perilous turn when they come under attack by assailants posing as police officers. In a courageous act of valor, Johansen shields one girl, Rosa, from harm, thwarting the attackers but sustaining injuries himself. As they recuperate, Johansen learns of Rosa’s tragic past and earns her trust through mutual understanding and empathy.
