The film centers around Amy Mayfield (played by Jennifer Morrison), a film student at Alpine University who is working on her thesis film project. Inspired by the success of her classmate Travis (played by Matthew Davis), who is making a horror film based on urban legends, Amy decides to create her own horror film centered around the theme of urban legends.
As Amy and her classmates begin filming their project, strange and disturbing events start to occur on the set. Members of the crew start to die in gruesome ways, each death mirroring an urban legend. Amy becomes convinced that someone is targeting the crew and using the urban legends as inspiration for their killings.
As the body count rises, Amy and her friends become increasingly paranoid and distrustful of each other. They suspect that the killer is one of their own, and tensions run high as they struggle to uncover the truth and unmask the culprit before it’s too late.
As the film progresses, Amy discovers a link between the killings and a secret society at the university known as the “Orphans,” who are rumored to have a sinister agenda. She learns that Travis, her classmate and rival, is a member of the Orphans and may be responsible for the murders.
In a climactic showdown, Amy confronts Travis and discovers that he is indeed the killer, driven by jealousy and a desire for recognition. Travis confesses to the murders and reveals that he orchestrated the killings as part of a twisted plan to create his own urban legend and cement his legacy as a filmmaker.
Amy manages to overpower Travis and escape, but not before a final confrontation ensues, resulting in Travis’s death. With the killer defeated, Amy and her friends emerge victorious, but they are left traumatized by the ordeal and haunted by the horrors they have witnessed.
The film concludes with Amy completing her thesis film and reflecting on the events that transpired. Despite the trauma and loss, she remains determined to pursue her dreams and create art that will endure.
