The film follows a group of college students at Pendleton University who become the targets of a serial killer who is inspired by urban legends.
Natalie Simon (played by Alicia Witt), a student at Pendleton University, becomes embroiled in the mystery when her friend Michelle Mancini (played by Natasha Gregson Wagner) is murdered in a manner reminiscent of an urban legend.
As more students fall victim to the killer, Natalie teams up with her classmates Paul Gardener (played by Jared Leto), Brenda Bates (played by Rebecca Gayheart), Damon Brooks (played by Joshua Jackson), and others to uncover the truth behind the murders.
They discover that the killer is copying famous urban legends and using them to terrorize the campus. The group realizes that they are being targeted one by one, and they must work together to survive.
As the body count rises, Natalie begins to suspect everyone around her, including her friends. She becomes increasingly paranoid and isolated as she tries to unravel the mystery.
In a climactic showdown, Natalie confronts the killer and learns their identity. The killer is revealed to be Professor William Wexler (played by Robert Englund), a folklore expert at Pendleton University who was driven mad by his research into urban legends.
Natalie manages to outsmart Wexler and ultimately survives the ordeal. With the help of the police, she brings Wexler to justice and puts an end to the killings.
“Urban Legend” is a classic slasher film that pays homage to the horror genre while adding its own twist with the incorporation of urban legends. The film features a talented ensemble cast and delivers plenty of suspense, thrills, and grisly kills to satisfy fans of the genre.
