The film follows Pete Garrison (played by Michael Douglas), a Secret Service agent assigned to protect the President of the United States. Garrison is highly respected and has a distinguished career, but his life takes a dramatic turn when he becomes embroiled in a conspiracy involving an assassination plot against the President.

As Garrison investigates the threat, he discovers that there is a mole within the Secret Service who is leaking information to the conspirators. Garrison’s former protégé, David Breckinridge (played by Kiefer Sutherland), is assigned to lead the investigation and is suspicious of Garrison’s involvement.

Meanwhile, Garrison is also dealing with personal issues, including an affair with the First Lady, Sarah Ballentine (played by Kim Basinger). Their affair complicates matters further, as Garrison becomes a prime suspect in the assassination plot due to his close proximity to the President and his relationship with the First Lady.

In a race against time, Garrison must clear his name and uncover the identity of the mole before it’s too late. With the help of his friend and fellow agent, Jill Marin (played by Eva Longoria), Garrison navigates a dangerous web of lies, deceit, and betrayal to expose the truth.

In a series of twists and turns, Garrison uncovers evidence that implicates someone close to the President in the conspiracy. As the tension mounts and the stakes escalate, Garrison must confront the truth and confront the traitor within the Secret Service.

In a climactic showdown, Garrison confronts the true mastermind behind the assassination plot and puts an end to their plans. With the threat neutralized and his name cleared, Garrison is hailed as a hero, and the President’s life is saved.

The film ends with Garrison returning to his duties as a Secret Service agent, while Breckinridge grudgingly acknowledges his former mentor’s bravery and dedication to duty.

Overall, “The Sentinel” is a tense and gripping thriller that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats with its suspenseful plot, unexpected twists, and stellar performances from its cast. It’s a riveting tale of loyalty, betrayal, and redemption set against the backdrop of the high-stakes world of presidential security.
