The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

The film opens with Don Ready, a highly skilled and charismatic used car liquidator, and his team—Jibby, Brent, and Babs—selling cars at a dealership. They are renowned for their ability to close deals and turn failing businesses around. Meanwhile, Ben Selleck, the owner of the struggling Selleck Motors, seeks Don’s help to boost sales and save his dealership from bankruptcy.

Don and his team arrive at Selleck Motors and immediately begin implementing their unconventional sales tactics. They introduce a “4th of July” sale event, promising outrageous deals and promotions to attract customers. However, they quickly discover that the dealership is facing numerous challenges, including incompetent staff, outdated inventory, and fierce competition from a nearby rival dealership.

As they work to revitalize the dealership, Don becomes romantically involved with Ivy Selleck, Ben’s daughter, further complicating matters. Meanwhile, tensions rise between Don and Paxton Harding, the owner of the rival dealership, who will stop at nothing to sabotage Selleck Motors and drive them out of business.

Despite facing various setbacks and obstacles, Don and his team rally together to stage an epic sales event on the 4th of July. They employ outrageous gimmicks, including skydiving car deliveries and a bikini car wash, to draw in customers. However, their efforts are jeopardized when Paxton launches a smear campaign against them, accusing Don of unethical practices.

In the climax of the film, Don confronts Paxton and exposes his deceitful tactics, winning over the crowd and earning the respect of Ivy and Ben. In a dramatic turn of events, Selleck Motors emerges victorious, thanks to Don and his team’s relentless determination and ingenuity.

As the film concludes, Selleck Motors celebrates its success, and Don reflects on the bonds formed with his team and the valuable lessons learned along the way. Despite the challenges they faced, they emerged stronger and more united, proving that with hard work, perseverance, and a little bit of showmanship, anything is possible in the world of sales.
