The film follows Ashe Corven (played by Vincent Pérez), a tattoo artist who is murdered alongside his son by a gang of thugs led by Judah Earl (played by Richard Brooks). Ashe and his son are killed on the Day of the Dead, a night when the souls of the dead can walk the earth.
However, Ashe is resurrected by a crow and given supernatural powers to seek vengeance for his and his son’s deaths. Guided by the crow, Ashe becomes the new incarnation of the Crow and sets out to track down the members of the gang responsible for his family’s murder.
Ashe encounters Sarah (played by Mia Kirshner), a young woman who is investigating the supernatural events surrounding the murders. Together, they uncover a conspiracy involving corrupt police officers, drug dealers, and Judah Earl, who has made a deal with a demonic entity known as the Dark Angel in exchange for power and immortality.
In his quest for revenge, Ashe faces off against the members of the gang one by one, using his newfound abilities to mete out justice. Along the way, he confronts his own inner demons and struggles with the temptation to succumb to the darkness within him.
In the climax of the film, Ashe confronts Judah Earl and the Dark Angel in a final showdown. With the help of Sarah and the spirit of his deceased son, Ashe is able to defeat Judah and destroy the Dark Angel, freeing the souls of the dead and avenging his family’s deaths.
In the end, Ashe’s mission is complete, and he is reunited with his son in the afterlife. Sarah, having witnessed the events unfold, is left to ponder the mysteries of life and death as she moves forward with her own life.
“The Crow: City of Angels” is praised for its dark and atmospheric visuals, as well as Vincent Pérez’s intense performance as Ashe. However, it received mixed reviews from critics, with some criticizing it for lacking the emotional depth and impact of the original film.
