The film follows Ahmed ibn Fadlan (played by Antonio Banderas), an Arab poet and diplomat who is exiled from his homeland for seducing a nobleman’s wife. He is sent on a mission to the distant and mysterious land of the Vikings as an ambassador. Along the way, he encounters a group of Norse warriors led by the chieftain Buliwyf (played by Vladimir Kulich).
Ahmed soon learns that the Vikings are facing a dire threat from a mysterious and ruthless enemy known as the Wendol, who are terrorizing their villages and slaughtering their people. Despite initial misgivings, Ahmed decides to join Buliwyf and his men on their quest to confront and defeat the Wendol.
As they journey deeper into the wilderness, Ahmed becomes an honorary member of the Viking band, learning their ways and earning their respect. He forms close bonds with his fellow warriors, including Herger the Joyous (played by Dennis Storhøi) and Wigliff (played by Anders T. Andersen).
As the group prepares for battle, they face numerous challenges and obstacles, including treacherous terrain, fierce storms, and deadly encounters with the Wendol. Along the way, Ahmed proves himself to be a skilled fighter and a valuable ally to the Vikings, earning the nickname “Ibn Fadlan the 13th Warrior.”
In a climactic showdown, Ahmed and the Vikings launch a daring assault on the Wendol stronghold, facing overwhelming odds and risking their lives to save the Viking villages from destruction. In a fierce and bloody battle, they emerge victorious, defeating the Wendol and restoring peace to the land.
However, victory comes at a great cost, as many of the Viking warriors are killed in the battle, including Buliwyf. Ahmed returns home as a hero, having proven his bravery and valor in the face of adversity. He bids farewell to his Viking comrades and reflects on the lessons he has learned during his journey.
