The film begins with Captain Leo Davidson (played by Mark Wahlberg), a United States Air Force astronaut, aboard the space station Oberon. During a routine reconnaissance mission, Leo’s chimp, Pericles, disappears into a magnetic storm. Ignoring orders, Leo flies a spacecraft into the storm to rescue Pericles but is sucked into a wormhole that sends him to an unknown planet.
