The film follows Captain Jack Sparrow as he searches for the Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that grants control over the seas and can break any sea curse. Meanwhile, Captain Salazar (played by Javier Bardem), a vengeful and undead pirate hunter, is released from the Devil’s Triangle and seeks to eliminate all pirates, with a particular vendetta against Jack Sparrow.
Throughout the movie, Jack Sparrow is joined by a young astronomer named Carina Smyth (played by Kaya Scodelario) and a young Royal Navy sailor named Henry Turner (played by Brenton Thwaites), who is on a quest to break his father Will Turner’s (played by Orlando Bloom) curse. Will Turner is cursed to serve as the captain of the Flying Dutchman.
In the climax, Jack, Carina, and Henry locate the Trident of Poseidon on an island. Captain Salazar and his crew pursue them, leading to a series of battles and betrayals. Ultimately, Jack Sparrow and his allies manage to obtain the Trident.
During the final confrontation, Jack’s old nemesis, Hector Barbossa (played by Geoffrey Rush), makes a surprising move. Barbossa, who is revealed to be Carina’s long-lost father, sacrifices himself to save her. He stabs himself with the Trident, causing both of them to fall into the ocean. Before dying, Barbossa expresses his love for Carina.
With the Trident destroyed, the curses on the sea are lifted. This leads to the Flying Dutchman appearing, with Will Turner now free from his curse. He reunites with his son Henry and Elizabeth Swann (played by Keira Knightley), marking a family reunion.
The film ends with Jack Sparrow sailing off into the horizon, setting the stage for potential future adventures. The post-credits scene hints at the return of Davy Jones, suggesting potential storylines for future sequels.
