The story is set in Bull Mountain, a small and laid-back ski resort in Alaska, where a group of friends work and live. The resort is owned by the wealthy businessman Ted Muntz (played by Lewis Arquette), who has plans to sell the mountain to a corporate developer, paving the way for upscale condominiums and commercialization.
The protagonist, Rick Rambis (played by Jason London), is a talented snowboarder and the de facto leader of the group.
