No Good Deed

The film centers on Terri Granger (Taraji P. Henson), a former district attorney turned stay-at-home mom. One day, Terri’s husband, Jeffrey (Henry Simmons), leaves for a weekend golf trip, leaving her alone with their two young children.

During a stormy night, Colin Evans (Idris Elba), a charming stranger claiming to have car trouble, knocks on Terri’s door asking to use her phone. Despite her initial reservations, Terri allows him in. Colin explains that he’s on his way to his parents’ house and got lost.

As Terri is on the phone with roadside assistance, she discovers a newspaper with Colin’s face on it. He is an escaped convict who was imprisoned for manslaughter. Realizing the danger she’s in, Terri tries to discreetly alert the authorities but faces numerous obstacles.

Colin reveals his true intentions and takes Terri hostage. As he holds her captive, Terri tries to outsmart him and protect her children. Meanwhile, Colin reveals bits of his troubled past, including his anger issues and the reason for his imprisonment.

Terri manages to escape momentarily, but Colin catches her and becomes increasingly violent. The tension escalates as Terri fights for her life and the safety of her children. In a final confrontation, Terri gains the upper hand and successfully subdues Colin.

The police arrive, and Colin is taken back into custody. Terri and her family are left traumatized by the harrowing experience. The film concludes with Terri embracing her husband, grateful for their survival, but forever changed by the events that unfolded.

“No Good Deed” received mixed reviews from critics but was a commercial success, praised for its suspenseful atmosphere and the performances of Taraji P. Henson and Idris Elba.
