The following morning, Chris seeks Bobby’s help, disclosing that a drug deal with the Colombians has gone awry, leading to him killing them and now being pursued by the Colombian drug cartel. Despite Bobby suggesting they turn to Roy for assistance, Chris, reluctant to involve him due to his unawareness of Chris’s illicit activities, refuses and departs. Meanwhile, Roy faces intense pressure from his Gambino Crime Family boss, resulting in an order to eliminate Chris. Assigned the task, Bobby searches for Chris for a week without success until, unexpectedly, he discovers Chris at his home. Chris reveals his true identity, kills Jim, and takes Bobby to the Gemini Lounge, believing that handing over the cop will appease Roy. However, upon reaching the lounge, Roy shoots and kills Chris, sparing Bobby. Subsequent strict actions by the police department lead to the suspension of Bobby and the captain, collecting evidence from them. In the aftermath, Bobby reflects on his misguided pursuit of machismo in the perilous criminal world and realizes he doesn’t deserve his wife. He bids her farewell with an envelope of cash, acknowledging his departure. Simultaneously, Bobby is approached by an informant seeking information on the crew. They arrange to meet outside the Gemini Lounge, but the informant turns out to be the plumber working there, revealing that they have bugged all locations. The plumber proposes a deal for Bobby to provide information in exchange for entry into the witness protection program. Although Bobby contemplates the offer, he acknowledges the potential chaos it would bring to his life. The film concludes by revealing the fates of the DeMeo crew—either dead or captured—underscoring the absence of a happy ending in the crime-ridden world.
