“Inferno” follows the character Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks) as he races to stop a deadly plague that could wipe out a significant portion of the world’s population. The film’s climax and resolution are marked by several twists and revelations.
At the end of the movie, Langdon discovers that the billionaire geneticist Bertrand Zobrist (played by Ben Foster) created a virus designed to cull the world’s overpopulation crisis. Zobrist believed that reducing the global population would save humanity from impending ecological disaster. She had been working with him to unleash the virus, but as the story progresses, she has a change of heart and helps Langdon to prevent the catastrophic plan.
The true location of the virus is eventually discovered: it has been hidden inside a water bag within the World Health Organization (WHO) in Turkey. Langdon and his allies race against time to prevent the virus from being released, ultimately succeeding in thwarting the threat.
In the end, Sienna succumbs to injuries sustained during the pursuit, and Langdon is left to contemplate the ethical implications of Zobrist’s plan. The movie concludes with Langdon recovering more of his memory and returning to his work as a symbologist, leaving the door open for potential future adventures.
