The slasher film concludes with Laurie Strode finally killing her lifelong tormentor, Michael Myers. After a brutal fight, Laurie traps Michael and decapitates him, ending his reign of terror once and for all. However, Laurie’s obsession with vengeance has tragic consequences when Corey, a young man she blamed for Michael’s latest murders, is driven to don Michael’s mask and kill. In the end, Laurie comes to terms with no longer being defined by Michael’s evil. With Michael dead, she can move on with her life, though her mistakes have wound up creating a new threat in Corey. The ending brings closure for Laurie after decades of fearing Michael, but also reveals how her trauma warped her judgement, leading another to follow in Michael’s footsteps.
