Good Mourning

“Good Mourning” (2022) follows the story of London Clash (Machine Gun Kelly/Colson Baker), a successful actor who starts his day with a distressing text from his girlfriend, Apple (Becky G), suggesting she wants to break up with him. This text sends London into a state of confusion and panic on the same day he’s supposed to have a crucial meeting regarding the lead role in a major film.

Throughout the day, London is surrounded by his group of friends, including his best friend, Dylan (Mod Sun), who try to help him decipher the text message’s meaning and advise him on how to respond. His friends offer various levels of support and distraction, often involving drug use, which is a significant element of the film’s stoner comedy genre.

As the day progresses, London’s friends attempt to cheer him up with various antics and activities, but their efforts are often more comical than helpful. The group’s dynamic is characterized by humorous banter and chaotic situations, which add to London’s growing stress about the potentially life-changing meeting and his relationship status.

In the end, after much contemplation and a series of misadventures, London decides to prioritize his personal life over his career. He rushes to stop Apple from leaving on a flight, hoping to salvage their relationship. However, when he arrives at the airport, he discovers that Apple was not actually planning to leave him but was instead testing him to see if he would choose her over his career.

The film concludes with London realizing that his relationship with Apple is toxic, and he decides to focus on his own well-being and career. He returns to the meeting and ultimately lands the movie role, indicating a new beginning for his career.

“Good Mourning” offers a comedic glimpse into the challenges of love and success in Hollywood, with a resolution that underscores personal growth and self-prioritization over dysfunctional relationships. The film received mixed reviews, with some viewers enjoying the humor and others critiquing its execution and narrative (IMDb).
