In “Fear Street: 1666,” the narrative takes the audience back to the origins of the curse that haunts Shadyside. Dina, played by Kiana Madeira, experiences the events through the eyes of her ancestor, Sarah Fier, played by the same actress.
In the past, the residents of Union, a neighboring town, turn against Shadyside, accusing Sarah Fier of witchcraft. Sarah is revealed to be in love with Hannah Miller, played by Olivia Scott Welch, and the two attempt to flee together. However, they are caught, and Sarah is accused of being a witch after being found with a book that allegedly gives her supernatural powers.
Sarah’s hand is marked with the curse, and she is subjected to a brutal execution. It is then revealed that Solomon Goode, a respected figure in the community, is the one responsible for the curse. He made a deal with the devil, hoping to secure prosperity for Union by using Shadyside as a vessel for evil.
In the present day, Dina and her friends, including her brother Josh (played by Benjamin Flores Jr.) and boyfriend Sam (also played by Olivia Scott Welch), use this knowledge to formulate a plan to break the curse. They confront the supernatural force known as the “Devil’s Mark” in a shopping mall, where they must face the possessed killers from the previous films.
In a climactic showdown, Dina successfully breaks the curse by convincing Sarah Fier to tell her story. The curse is lifted, and the malevolent force is seemingly vanquished. The surviving characters, having endured the horrors of the trilogy, find themselves in a world free from the curse’s influence.
The trilogy concludes with a resolution in which Shadyside is no longer haunted, and the characters can finally experience peace. The films blend horror, mystery, and historical elements to tell a cohesive and interconnected story across different time periods.
