Joel Reynold is the owner of Reynold’s Extract, a flavor extract company that he built from the ground up. Despite his success, Joel feels unfulfilled in both his personal and professional life. His marriage to Suzie has become stale, and he is frustrated by the lack of excitement in his job.
Joel’s life takes a turn when an accident at his factory results in an employee, Step, losing one of his testicles. Step hires a sleazy lawyer named Joe Adler and plans to sue the company for millions. Worried about the potential financial impact on his business, Joel seeks advice from his friend Dean, a bartender.
In an attempt to gather information on Step, Joel asks Cindy, a new employee at the factory, to seduce him and find out if he is serious about the lawsuit. However, Cindy mistakenly believes that Joel is interested in her romantically and begins to pursue him.
Meanwhile, Joel’s frustrations with his marriage lead him to consider having an affair with Cindy. He confides in Dean, who advises him to go through with it. However, Joel ultimately decides against it and tries to salvage his marriage with Suzie.
As the lawsuit against the company progresses, Joel becomes increasingly paranoid and desperate to find a solution. He hatches a plan to get Step to drop the lawsuit by offering him a promotion and a settlement. However, the plan backfires when Step refuses and threatens to take the case to court.
In a last-ditch effort to save his company, Joel decides to sell Reynold’s Extract to General Mills. However, he learns that General Mills plans to shut down the factory and move production overseas, leaving Joel and his employees out of work.
Feeling defeated, Joel reflects on his mistakes and realizes that he needs to take responsibility for his actions. He decides to come clean to Suzie about his feelings for Cindy and his involvement in the lawsuit. To his surprise, Suzie forgives him and expresses her desire to work on their marriage.
In the end, Joel reconciles with Suzie and decides to rebuild Reynold’s Extract from the ground up. With Suzie’s support, he begins the process of rebranding and relaunching the company, determined to learn from his mistakes and make things right.
The film concludes with Joel and Suzie attending a company picnic with their employees, signaling a fresh start for both their marriage and Reynold’s Extract.
