Breakdown

The film follows the story of Jeff Taylor (played by Kurt Russell) and his wife, Amy Taylor (played by Kathleen Quinlan), who are traveling cross-country from Massachusetts to California. Their journey takes a terrifying turn when their car breaks down in the middle of the desert in remote Arizona.

A friendly truck driver named Red Barr (played by J.T. Walsh) offers to give Amy a ride to the nearest diner to call for help, leaving Jeff behind to watch over their belongings. However, when Amy fails to return, Jeff becomes increasingly concerned and sets out to find her.

As Jeff investigates, he discovers that there is no record of Amy ever being at the diner, and Red Barr denies ever seeing her. Jeff’s search for his wife leads him to uncover a sinister conspiracy involving a group of criminals who prey on unsuspecting travelers in the desert.
