Anne Marie, a former competitive surfer, dreams of making a comeback and competing in the Pipe Masters surfing competition, one of the most prestigious events in the sport. However, she is haunted by a traumatic surfing accident that left her injured and fearful of big waves.

As Anne Marie trains for the competition, she faces various challenges and setbacks, including injuries, self-doubt, and financial struggles. She also grapples with personal issues, including her strained relationship with her absentee mother and her budding romance with Matt Tollman (played by Matthew Davis), a pro football player vacationing in Hawaii.

With the support of her friends and her mentor, local surf legend Keala Kennelly (played by herself), Anne Marie overcomes her fears and insecurities and prepares to compete in the Pipe Masters.
