The film follows Charlie Kaufman (played by Nicolas Cage), a neurotic and self-loathing screenwriter struggling to adapt the non-fiction book “The Orchid Thief” by Susan Orlean (played by Meryl Streep) into a screenplay. Charlie is paralyzed by his own insecurities and writer’s block, constantly battling his inner demons and feelings of inadequacy.
