The movie follows U.S. Marshal John Kruger (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger), who works for the Witness Security Protection program. Kruger specializes in “erasing” the identities of people who are in danger, allowing them to start new lives in safety.
Kruger’s latest assignment is to protect Lee Cullen (played by Vanessa Williams), a high-level executive at a defense contractor who has discovered that her company is selling advanced weapons to terrorists. Lee wants to expose the corruption within her company, but she becomes a target for assassination.

In the climax of the film, Kruger and Lee confront Deguerin and the terrorists at a remote hideout. A violent shootout ensues, during which Kruger manages to eliminate the terrorists and expose Deguerin as the mole.
In the final moments of the film, Kruger and Lee successfully thwart the terrorist plot and bring Deguerin to justice. Kruger erases Lee’s identity and helps her disappear into a new life, ensuring her safety.
