Doug (played by Chris Kattan) and Steve Butabi (played by Will Ferrell) are two dim-witted brothers who spend their nights trying to gain entry into the exclusive Los Angeles nightclub, the Roxbury. However, their attempts are always unsuccessful, as they are seen as losers by the club’s bouncer.
One night, the Butabi brothers accidentally crash their car into the vehicle of Richard Grieco, a famous actor. To avoid trouble, Grieco invites them to a party at the Roxbury as compensation for the damage.
At the Roxbury, the Butabi brothers impress club owner Mr. Zadir with their dance moves. He offers them a job as promoters for the club, finally giving them the chance to fulfill their dreams.
Doug becomes infatuated with a woman named Cambi, while Steve falls for Emily, Mr. Zadir’s daughter. However, their relationships are complicated by misunderstandings and miscommunications.
Mr. Zadir’s business partner, Benny, plans to take over the Roxbury and turn it into a chain of strip clubs. The Butabi brothers must come up with a plan to save the club and win the hearts of their romantic interests.
In the end, the Butabi brothers manage to thwart Benny’s scheme and save the Roxbury from destruction. Doug ends up with Cambi, and Steve wins Emily’s heart. They finally achieve their dream of becoming successful club promoters and gain the respect they’ve always craved.
