The story is set in the mythical kingdom of Izmer, a land divided between the ruling class of mages and the common people. The young Empress Savina (played by Thora Birch) seeks to bridge the gap between the two groups by promoting equality and justice for all citizens.
However, her plans are thwarted by the evil sorcerer Profion (played by Jeremy Irons), who seeks to overthrow Savina and seize control of Izmer for himself. Profion seeks to acquire the Rod of Savrille, a magical artifact that grants its wielder the power to control red dragons, which he believes will help him achieve his goal.
To stop Profion’s nefarious plans, Savina enlists the help of a group of unlikely heroes: Ridley Freeborn (played by Justin Whalin), a young thief; Snails (played by Marlon Wayans), Ridley’s loyal and bumbling friend; Marina Pretensa (played by Zoe McLellan), a skilled mage; and Norda (played by Kristen Wilson), a dwarf warrior.
Together, the adventurers embark on a quest to find the Rod of Savrille before Profion can get his hands on it. Along the way, they face numerous challenges and obstacles, including battles with monsters, traps, and rival factions vying for power.
As they journey deeper into the heart of danger, Ridley and his companions discover the true power of friendship and teamwork. They learn to trust each other’s strengths and abilities, forging a bond that proves crucial in their battle against Profion and his forces.
