The protagonist, Gabriel Yulaw (played by Jet Li), is a former police officer from a parallel universe who discovers the existence of multiple parallel universes connected by a cosmic energy known as “the multiverse.” In each universe, there are multiple versions of every individual, and Gabriel learns that he is one of these duplicates.
In his universe, Gabriel was a highly skilled law enforcement officer who pursued and captured dangerous criminals known as “multiverse variants,” individuals who have committed crimes across different universes. However, Gabriel’s success breeds jealousy among his colleagues, who fear his growing power and seek to eliminate him.
Determined to become “the one,” the ultimate version of himself who will possess the combined power of all his duplicates, Gabriel embarks on a mission to eliminate his alternate selves and absorb their energy. As he travels from universe to universe, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake, Gabriel’s actions attract the attention of authorities and law enforcement agencies from various universes.
Meanwhile, in one of the parallel universes, Gabriel’s counterpart, Gabe Law (also played by Jet Li), is a humble and unassuming police officer living a quiet life with his wife, T.K. (played by Carla Gugino). When Gabe learns of Gabriel’s existence and his plan to become “the one,” he is thrust into a dangerous game of cat and mouse as he becomes the target of his vengeful counterpart.
As Gabriel closes in on Gabe, the two engage in a series of intense and adrenaline-fueled confrontations across different universes. Along the way, Gabe receives assistance from other versions of himself, including a tough-as-nails sheriff named Roedecker (played by Delroy Lindo) and a wise martial arts master named Yu-Law (also played by Jet Li).
In a climactic showdown, Gabe confronts Gabriel in a final battle for the fate of the multiverse. With the help of his allies and the strength of his convictions, Gabe emerges victorious, defeating Gabriel and preventing him from achieving his goal of becoming “the one.”
In the end, Gabe returns to his own universe, where he is reunited with his wife T.K. and begins to rebuild his life. As he reflects on his journey and the lessons he has learned, Gabe realizes that true power comes not from domination or conquest, but from compassion, integrity, and the bonds of love and friendship.
