The film begins in present-day London with a young boy named Quinn Abercromby witnessing the accidental awakening of a hibernating dragon when workers uncover a vast underground chamber during construction. The dragon unleashes fire upon the city, starting a catastrophic chain of events that leads to the near-extinction of humanity.
Jumping forward to the year 2020, the world has been transformed into a desolate wasteland ruled by dragons. Quinn (played by Christian Bale) now leads a small community of survivors in Northumberland, England, where they eke out a meager existence while constantly evading dragon attacks.
One day, a group of American dragon slayers led by Denton Van Zan (played by Matthew McConaughey) arrives at Quinn’s settlement. Van Zan claims to have a plan to kill the male dragon responsible for breeding and thereby ending the dragon menace once and for all. Initially skeptical, Quinn eventually agrees to join forces with Van Zan and his team.
As they journey to London, Quinn, Van Zan, and their team face numerous challenges, including encounters with ferocious dragons and clashes within their own ranks. Along the way, they learn more about the dragons’ biology and behavior, as well as the devastating impact they have had on the world.
Upon reaching London, the group discovers that the male dragon, known as the “Bull,” has been breeding an army of dragons in an underground nest. Determined to stop the creatures before they spread further, Quinn and Van Zan devise a daring plan to infiltrate the nest and destroy the Bull.
In a climactic battle, Quinn, Van Zan, and their team confront the Bull and its offspring in a fierce showdown. Despite heavy casualties and setbacks, they manage to kill the Bull and collapse the nest, effectively ending the threat of the dragons once and for all.
With the male dragon dead and the nest destroyed, humanity has a chance to rebuild and reclaim the world from the brink of extinction. Quinn and his fellow survivors return to their settlement, determined to create a new future for themselves and future generations.
