The story begins with a group of young friends traveling through rural Texas to attend a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. Along the way, they encounter a hitchhiker named Pepper (played by Erica Leerhsen), who joins them on their journey. While passing through a desolate stretch of road, they accidentally hit a woman who wanders into their path.
Seeking help, the group arrives at a nearby farmhouse, where they encounter a disturbed family led by the imposing and chainsaw-wielding Leatherface (played by Andrew Bryniarski). The family, consisting of Leatherface, his disturbed brother, Thomas “Tommy” Hewitt (played by R. Lee Ermey), and their deranged mother (played by Marietta Marich), quickly reveals themselves to be cannibals who prey on unsuspecting travelers.
As the group tries to escape the clutches of the cannibal family, they are systematically hunted down and killed one by one. Leatherface, wielding his signature chainsaw, becomes a relentless force of terror as he pursues the survivors through the labyrinthine corridors of the farmhouse and surrounding property.
In the climax of the film, the lone survivor, Erin (played by Jessica Biel), manages to outwit Leatherface and escape from the farmhouse. In a harrowing final showdown, she confronts Leatherface and manages to subdue him, temporarily incapacitating him and allowing her to flee to safety.
The film ends with Erin managing to flag down a passing motorist for help, leaving the cannibal family’s farmhouse behind her. However, the fate of Leatherface and the rest of the family remains unknown, leaving the door open for the possibility of future sequels or spin-offs.
