In an effort to help her mother find love and stability, Holly creates an imaginary secret admirer named Ben, who sends Jean romantic emails and letters. However, Holly’s plan backfires when Jean becomes infatuated with the mysterious Ben and starts to believe that he is the perfect man for her.

As Jean becomes more obsessed with Ben, Holly must navigate the complexities of teenage life, including friendships, school, and her own romantic interests. She befriends Adam Forrest (played by Ben Feldman), a handsome classmate who has a crush on her, and begins to develop feelings for him.

She also grapples with her conflicted emotions about her mother’s search for love and the impact it has on their family.

In the climax of the film, Holly’s elaborate scheme to create the perfect man is exposed when Jean discovers the truth about Ben’s identity. Heartbroken and embarrassed, Jean confronts Holly about her deception and the damage it has caused to their relationship.

Realizing the error of her ways, Holly apologizes to her mother and comes clean about her motivations for creating Ben. She expresses her love and appreciation for Jean, acknowledging the sacrifices she has made as a single mother and her unwavering commitment to her family.

In the end, Holly learns valuable lessons about honesty, acceptance, and the true meaning of love. She reconciles with her mother and embraces their bond as a family, while also opening herself up to the possibility of finding love and happiness in unexpected places.
