Year One

The story begins in a prehistoric village where Zed and Oh are outcasts, unable to fit in with their tribe due to their incompetence and eccentricities. Zed, eager to prove himself as a great warrior, consumes forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, leading to his expulsion from the village. Oh follows him, and they set out on a journey together.

Their journey takes them through various biblical settings, including encounters with Cain and Abel, Abraham and Isaac, and the city of Sodom. Along the way, they find themselves in a series of misadventures and absurd situations.

In Sodom, Zed and Oh are mistaken for messengers from the gods and are taken in by the High Priest and his daughter, Eema. Zed falls in love with Eema, while Oh is attracted to Maya, a slave girl. However, they soon discover the corrupt and debauched nature of Sodom’s rulers.

As the city prepares for a ritual sacrifice, Zed and Oh devise a plan to rescue their loved ones and escape. With the help of Cain, who has also become disillusioned with Sodom’s leaders, they overthrow the High Priest and free the slaves.

In the end, Zed and Oh decide to leave Sodom behind and continue their journey together. Along the way, they encounter other biblical figures, including the Old Testament God, who appears as a fiery bush. Despite their bumbling antics, Zed and Oh ultimately find friendship and purpose in each other’s company.

“Year One” is a comedic romp through biblical history, filled with irreverent humor and slapstick antics. It’s a satirical take on religion, society, and the human condition, with Jack Black and Michael Cera delivering hilarious performances as the hapless protagonists.
