The film begins with The Ghost being hired by a publishing house to complete the memoirs of Adam Lang after the previous ghostwriter died in mysterious circumstances. The Ghost is given a tight deadline and travels to Martha’s Vineyard, where Lang is staying with his wife, Ruth (played by Olivia Williams), and his staff, including his assistant Amelia Bly (played by Kim Cattrall).
As The Ghost begins his work, he quickly becomes embroiled in the complex and secretive world of Lang’s political career.
