The story follows Sean Anderson (Josh Hutcherson), a teenager who receives a distress signal from his grandfather, Alexander Anderson (Michael Caine). The signal leads Sean and his stepfather Hank Parsons (Dwayne Johnson) on an adventure to a mysterious island in the Pacific.
