In the resolution, Quaid discovers that the life he thought was his own was indeed a fabrication. He is revealed to be Carl Hauser, a top agent working for Cohaagen. Quaid’s memories were manipulated to turn him into a double agent. The Resistance, led by Matthias (Bill Nighy), plans to use Quaid to disable Cohaagen’s control over a massive robot army.

Quaid embraces his true identity and decides to fulfill his mission to bring down Cohaagen’s oppressive regime. The film ends with a climactic showdown, revealing Quaid’s true purpose and the impact of his actions on the future of Mars.

The ending of “Total Recall” explores themes of identity, memory, and rebellion against a tyrannical government. It presents a twist-filled narrative with action-packed sequences, characteristic of the science fiction genre.
