Wild

The film follows Cheryl Strayed, a woman who has experienced a series of devastating events, including the death of her mother (Laura Dern), divorce, drug addiction, and promiscuity. In an attempt to cope with her grief and find herself, Cheryl decides to hike more than a thousand miles on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), despite having no prior backpacking experience.

Cheryl faces numerous challenges along the trail, including physical exhaustion, extreme weather conditions, and encounters with potentially dangerous wildlife. As she hikes, Cheryl reflects on her past, revealing the events that led her to this journey.
