The movie follows Andre Allen, a successful comedian who gained fame and fortune playing a character called “Hammy the Bear” in a film franchise. However, Andre wants to be taken seriously as a dramatic actor, and his latest film, a historical drama about the Haitian Revolution, is set to be released.

As part of the promotional efforts for his film, Andre agrees to be interviewed by Chelsea Brown (Rosario Dawson), a New York Times reporter. The interview takes place over the course of a day as they wander around New York City.
