A Royal Night Out

In the climax of the movie, Princess Elizabeth (Sarah Gadon) and Princess Margaret (Bel Powley) sneak out of Buckingham Palace on V.E. Day to experience the joyous celebrations in London.

In the resolution, the princesses have a series of adventures and encounters with commoners during their night out. They meet Jack (Jack Reynor), an airman who initially doesn’t recognize them as royals. Elizabeth and Jack form a connection throughout the night, and Margaret has her share of experiences as well.

As the night progresses, Elizabeth is eventually recognized and becomes the center of attention in Trafalgar Square. Jack realizes her identity, but the two share a brief and poignant moment before parting ways. The princesses return to Buckingham Palace before dawn.

The film ends with Elizabeth and Margaret safely back in the palace, having experienced a night of freedom and connection with the people. The movie suggests that the events of that night had a lasting impact on Elizabeth, who would later become Queen Elizabeth II.

In summary, “A Royal Night Out” concludes with the princesses returning to their royal duties, with Elizabeth having had a taste of ordinary life and a brief connection with a commoner during the celebrations of V.E. Day. The film blends historical events with a fictionalized and romanticized narrative.
