Assassin’s Creed

The film follows Callum Lynch (played by Michael Fassbender), a criminal who is saved from execution by the mysterious Abstergo Industries. Abstergo, a modern-day front for the Templar Order, wants to locate the Apple of Eden, an ancient artifact that holds the key to free will.

Through a machine called the Animus, Callum relives the memories of his ancestor, Aguilar de Nerha, an Assassin during the Spanish Inquisition. The Templars believe that Aguilar’s memories will lead them to the Apple.

In the climax, Callum, along with other modern-day Assassins, infiltrates Abstergo’s facility to stop the Templars’ plans. As Callum enters the Animus one last time, he experiences Aguilar’s final memory, where the Assassin and his fellow Assassins attempt to protect the Apple from the Templars.

During the intense action sequences, Callum manages to retrieve the Apple from the Templars. He confronts Sophia Rikkin (played by Marion Cotillard), an Abstergo scientist who believes in the Templar cause. Callum, now aligned with the Assassin’s Creed, decides not to kill Sophia, symbolizing his commitment to a different path.

The film ends with Callum and other Assassins recovering the Apple and planning their next moves against the Templars. The modern-day Assassins are determined to continue the fight for free will and prevent the Templars from gaining control over humanity.

“Assassin’s Creed” received mixed reviews, with praise for its action sequences but criticism for its convoluted plot. The ending sets up the potential for sequels, although as of my knowledge cutoff in January 2022, no direct sequel has been released.
