The reboot concludes with Riley’s boyfriend Trevor being turned into a Cenobite after opening the Lament Configuration puzzle box, his body mutilated with hooks and chains by Pinhead. Riley narrowly escapes the same fate when the police interrupt the Cenobites’ ritual. While the ending provides some closure with the demise of Trevor, it also leaves things open-ended. The sinister Lemarchand box remains intact along with Pinhead and the Cenobites, who will continue seeking new victims to torture for eternity. Riley may have survived her brush with their sadistic underworld, but the realm of pain and suffering summoned by the puzzle box remains undisturbed. Hellraiser ends on an ominous note, with Pinhead’s evil influence unchecked and the Lament Configuration ready to unleash hellish horrors upon the next person who dares solve it.
