The film opens with Michael Zane (played by Kurt Russell), a seasoned criminal, and his partner Thomas Murphy (played by Kevin Costner) orchestrating a heist at a Las Vegas casino. Disguised as Elvis impersonators attending a convention, they successfully rob the casino, but Murphy double-crosses Zane, shooting their getaway driver and fleeing with the loot.
